Wednesday 23rd July.

Good Morning. Up early again.

Yesterday was unexceptional. It mainly consisted of gardening and beers. In the evening we watched Bonekickers. Not bad but pretty stupid unbelievable nonsense.

Today Gym followed by more of the same. Looks like being a hot one.

So gym at 7.30, followed by some gardening. Lunch followed by some exciting ironing and tidying up and/or the TDF.

This evening BBQ and TV.

Thursday and Friday more of the same.

Saturday probably go to London, and Sunday rest and recover.

That's it for now.

Tuesday 22nd July.

Good Morning. Looks like being a beautiful day. Life is good. Let us make the most of it.

Yesterday. Few jobs in morning. Beer at lunchtime. Watched a bit of cricket and dozed off for half an hour. Few more jobs. Quick early evening beer. At least it is a bit more exercise. Came home. Did BBQ. Watched TV. Went to bed. Normal day really.

Today more of the same. Get the lawn mower out later, and maybe the strimmer and the hedge trimmer.

Apart from the TDF, no sport worth talking about today.

Grass cut outback already. Time to get the strimmer. Join me next time for "Further adventures of The.... Gardener.". Bye for now.

Monday 21st July 2008.

Good Morning. Looks like being a good week on the weather front. so lots of gardening and other suitable outdoor activities.

Did not post yesterday as I guess I was too busy.

Saturday did a few jobs. Guests arrived about 3pm. Went to Hardwicke House to watch Dom Pasquale, a comic Italian Opera. A bit like a Brian Rix Farce with singing. Quite entertaining, and definitely different. A pleasant picnic in the grounds for two hours beforehand set us up nicely, and all round a good evening.

We got home in time for a couple more drinks and even more bizarre a game of scrabble. Wild exciting Saturday night.

Sunday got up early. Did a few jobs. Pottered around waiting for everyone to get organised. Lunch in The Cross Keys. Very Good.

Went for a walk and our guests departed about 5pm. I settled down to watch the end of the golf. Harrington won easy. Hope some of you took some of that 12.5 as advised, that was available on Saturday morning.

England struggling in the cricket, and Hamilton won the Grand Prix.

Watched a bit of TV and went to bed. Mrs G. was still working when I got up this morning, and she ended up having one and a half hours sleep before starting again. She will be heading off  to work in a minute, and will hopefully get home early and have an early night.

Anyway jobs to do, people to see, places to go. Have y'all a good day.

No post yesterday.

So yesterday went into Reading to take part in Biobank, an NHS National Health Survey. Quite interesting. I shall put a link at the end of this post.

Bumped into buddies at lunchtime.

In the evening went to local for Steak night. Came home and watched Saving Private Ryan. Very Good, but did not realise the Second World War was fought between USA and Germany. Thought some other countries were involved as well.

Night before we watched Brokebank Mountain. Not bad but a bit depressing.

Rest of Thursday was just an average day. Lunchtime beer. Bit of Sport, etc, etc, etc....

The Golf looks quite interesting. Greg Norman putting up a great effort, and Harrington not out of it. K J Choi leads which is a surprise to me, as I have always had him down as a fair weather player. The weather could still play a big factor, and I could not pick a winner at this point. If Harrington has recovered from his injury he would be my speculative suggestion 12,5 on Betfair as I speak.

In the cricket I am bit surprised the draw is 8.6 as the forecast for today and the next few days is not that great. OTOH it is only day two and we are well into SA first innings. Check the forecast. It looks like a good trading game if you have the time to sit and watch bits of cricket and lots of rain. Keep an eye on the forecast though as it seems to change on a daily basis.

Got a couple of jobs to do, so better get going. Might blog again later if I get a few minutes. Bye for now. Comments as always more than welcome.

The Biobank website is http://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/

Thursday 17th July 2008.

Good Morning.

Yesterday. Interesting discussion with a couple of friends about setting up a business. I may play a small role. More details later. Launch date April 2009.

Came home. Ordered Chinese. Watched TV.

Today. Jobs to do. The Open is live on TV from 9am. The weather looks wet and windy. This should take care of the Americans as they are generally used to playing in better conditions. What about a speculative bet on Paul Lawrie 330 on the exchanges? Last British player to win the Open I believe. Always plays better when it's raining. Lee Westwood won't mind it either. If not one of these two, look for someone who likes playing in the wind and rain. I would start with British and Irish players, and work out from there. Harrington would be a player, but with a wrist injury, cannot see him coming out of wet rough without doing further damage.

Cleaning to be done later and maybe some grass cutting which somehow did not happen yesterday.

The US stock market rebounded yesterday. About time too. The FTSE will no doubt go up today as well. It has lost 20% over the last year, so it still has a lot of work to do. Over the long term I remain an optimist, but it might not get back to 6000 before the end of the year. We shall see,

So more jobs to do, so I better get going. Enjoy the golf. Better to be watching in this weather than playing. I bet Tiger is glad to have his feet up with a cold one, rather than getting soaked through at Birkdale. Bye for now.

Blog of the day btw:- http://www.bertsblog.co.uk/

Did I drop something? Maybe a name or two?

Also good to see Talkbet back.

Wednesday 16th July 2008.

Yesterday panned out much as expected. Today will probably be much of the same, with a few more jobs to do around the house,

The sun has come out so might as well do a few jobs in the garden.

Tomorrow sees the start of the Open. I give Lee Westwood a chance, and Anthony Kim is quite a decent price. To be honest I have not been following the golf closely enough to have a strong opinion at this point.

I am afraid I don't have much more to say today, so that's it folks.

Tuesday 15th July.

Very little to report.

Popping out with my buddy later.

Hopefully the weather will improve, and we will sneak in a lunchtime pint.

I will return home to cut the grass and attend to my house husband duties.

No sport worth bothering about today or tomorrow, so all round a fairly boring time.

Golf and Cricket later in the week. Plus visitors and socialising at the weekend.

That will have to do for now.

Monday 14th July 2008.

Good Afternoon.

Yesterday. Mrs G. went shopping. I watched cricket and barbied some chicken.Probably watched a bit more sport, then made tea. BBQ sausages. Spent an hour pruning in the garden. Then watched George Gently. Not bad. And then to bed.

Today gym for a swim. Doctors for a blood test. Pub for a pint. Came home. Watched a bit of cricket. Brief siesta. Then tidied up house. Thinking of popping out for a short walk and a quick pint.

Tonight I will cook dinner, and then we will watch New Tricks. At this rate I may die of excitement.

No luck with the job application. At this rate I may have to join "blogofatwentysomething" at Terminal 5.

Bye for now.

Sunday 13th July 2008.

Yesterday consisted of watching cricket, few beers with buddies, dinner and TV.

Today will probably be more of the same.

Winker Watson runs over in France, so I shall try and catch that later.

We will probably go out for lunch, and we may go for a swim before that.

Tomorrow doctors appointment, and the rest of the week I don't know.

Not much more to say today, but comments welcome.
